Please do not use the images contained within this mod without my permission as many of the images are original works.


I will add more documentation as need as I go along. 

This mod is different from the Star Trek Mod in that has a limited number of ten major races, each with their own technology 
tree, and twenty-eight neutral races with a unique facility for each one. The mod also has a very unique racial trait system 
that prevents a player from selecting more than one race racial trait. This mod goes further than the Star Trek Mod in its 
effort to immerse the players into the Star Trek universe. Each race has its own unique ability, be it larger ships, stronger 
troops, or more ships hull types. 

The Atrocities Star Trek Mod, often referred to as the AST Mod, is a star trek conversion mod designed to immerse players 
into the star trek universe.  While the mod is limited by the physics of Space Empires IV Deluxe, it does offer a true to 
form game playing experiences. Each race in the AST Mod has it's own technology tree. All of the neutral races each have a 
unique facility that provides a bonus to each race. Some races will not expand because it is not in their nature to do so,
while others will expand and colonize.  The mod has ten major races and twenty-eight neutral ones.

The AST Mod is a mod of SPACE EMPIRES IV therefore it must follow the physics of this game. The AST Mod is not a STAND ALONE 
GAME. It is limited to the physics and restrictions of SE IV, thereby many elements of the mod that would be considered as 
Star Trek Cannon, cannot apply. IE true warp drive, ship sizes, weapons, and star trek acting AI. Albeit I have tried, with 
the help of many fine people, to simulate as well as we can, a true star trek environment for our game play pleasure.

3. INSTALLATION
=======================================================

1. This mod requires the installation of all of the latest Image Mod Packs available at:
	http://imagemod.spaceempires.net/
2. This mod requires the installation of additional component and event images available at:
	http://www.astempire.net/zips/ImageAdditions.zip 
3. Unzip ASTfull***.zip to your your Space Empires Directory as you would any other mod.
4. Verify that you have a mod folder named AST "version"
5. Use the Mod Launcher program to start the mod.

4. UNINSTALL
=======================================================

1. Delete the folder name AST "version" from your Space Emires IV directory.

5. GAME PLAY
=======================================================

1. You must take the Required Trait in order to get enough racial points.
2. You must choose a Racial Trait for whichever race you choose to play.
3. You must choose a Cultural Trait. For single players Normal Race will do.
4. You must choose a Colonization Trait. Rock, Ice, or Gas world.
5. There are both advantage and disadvantage Racial Traits that can be selected.
6. Use MOUNTS as they scale components. Especially propulsion components.
7. Colony Modules are located at the end of the component list instead of at the beginning.
8. When designing ships be sure to include impulse engines.
9. Some hulls, such as colony ships, require 4 warp nacelles.
10. Supplies in this mod are designed to be consumed. It is important that you consider this when you design ships.  A ship 
with warp core X will use more supplies if it is ordered to move its maximum range in one turn. Keep in mind that all because 
your ship can go 10 sectors does not mean you should go 10 sectors.  The further you move the more supplies you use up. Read 
below for more details. 
11. Remote mining ships are a great way to obtain extra resources.
12. Remote mining ships, Barges, and Re-Supply ships do not make good weapons platforms. They have huge negative abilities 
that make them pretty much useless for combat.
13. You can only add an Expansion Construction Yard by UPGRADING an Expansion Construction Yard Project.
14. Planetary Capitals server as spaceports.

6. QUICK START GAMES
=======================================================

QUICK START DEFAULT DESIGN BUG.

Here is the method for over coming the Quick Start default design bug. While this appears to be a bug with SE IV, and not the 
mod, we are still trying to find a way to cope with it. In the mean time here is a revised method that will help human 
players over come the design bug.

In order to have the Design Minister design ships that have all of the required components do this:

1. Once the game is loaded make all of the designs obsolete
2. Activate the Design Minister
3. Process the turn.

The minister will design correct designs for the next turn. This method worked for both minor and Major races including the 

Federation.

7. SEIV FONT INSTALLATION
=======================================================

It is strongly recommended that you take the time to copy the SEIV fonts to your system.  By doing so you will be able to see 
the longer messages that the Mod Launcher displays.

1. 	Go to Control Panel.
2.	Open "Fonts" folder.
3.	Select "File" menu item and then click "Install font" item.
4.	In the dialog window choose you se4 fonts folder, ie, C:\Program Files\Malfador Machinations\Space Empires 
IV\Fonts\". Windows will scan this folder for fonts and list them in the "List fonts" box.
5.	Check "Install fonts to system fonts folder" option.
6.	Now click "Select all" button and then OK button.
	Enjoy.

edit: 	some names of buttons and menu items may differ for you, since I have Russian windows and my translation can be 
slightly incorrect

Atrocities, a.k.a. William Christopher, a well known and respected member of the Space Empires community since mid 2000, 
started playing Space Empires IV back in August of 2000 when the demo of the game was first released. After receiving the 
full version of the game in November of 2000, Atrocities embarked upon a seven-year addiction that cost him his job, his 
home, his health, and his sanity. In the time that Atrocities has been playing Space Empires IV he has created over 80 
separate and unique ships sets, including remakes, five mods, and several support documents, including one document that was 
included with the release of Space Empires IV Gold and Deluxe editions.  Atrocities currently reside with family in the 
beautiful Pacific Northwest.
